Born Monday April 27th, 2009 at 3pm. Weight: 7 lbs. 14 oz. Length: 18.5 in.

Surprise! He came 16 days early! I went to the doctor on Monday morning for my 37 week check up and left the doctor's office feeling totally in shock after being told to go straight to Labor and Delivery. I had progressed to a 6 with out having hardly any contractions and the doctor said I wasn't allowed to go home when I was that far along in the delivery process. So, Sean and I checked in to the hospital around 10:30 am, I got an epidural around 11:30, and the Dr. broke my water at 12:30. I started to push at 2:30 and our little guy was born just before 3! I was so surprised and relieved that everything had gone so quickly and smoothly. I've been recovering really fast and I feel good and energetic (well, so far...we'll see how energetic I feel in a few more days!) Jackson is a really sweet little guy and he's doing really well with eating, sleeping and pooping! I love hearing his little grunts and squeaks - he's so cute!

Peter is starting to understand that this baby is part of our family. If he can't see where the baby is, he asks, "Baby? baby?" He was really patient last night when the baby kept waking him up. We'll see how he does over the next few weeks.

We love having our two boys at home and we feel so blessed to have them in our family.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm glad everything went so smoothly for you and the little guy. He's so cute! I love his hair. You must be a very happy mommy.
ReplyDeleteCatherine! Jackson is a doll! I'm glad everything went well...and quickly! I love the picture of the brothers - so sweet =). Take care of yourself, and let us know if you need anything!
ReplyDelete(the word verification on this one is "reste." Hopefully you're getting some!)
Congrats! It is a bit weird to go to your doctor appointment as a routine and then told to go to the hospital and you go there feeling normal but knowing youre having a baby today! Glad to hear everything went well and quick. He looks just like Peter. Tairel and I will have to come by sometime and see him.
ReplyDeleteHe is such a chub! I've never seen a newborn with a double chin and chubby cheeks that fast! I love it. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Hess family! How wonderful that everything went so well. I pray that it continues to be that way. Please call if I can help with anything.

ReplyDeleteI agree, Jackson looks so much like his big bro, but with a little extra chub. And by the way, your hair looks so cute all the time, even right after labor. Congrat on the great labor, new baby, and your hair. Let me know if you need anything.
