I am the mommy, after all...

Peter loves to help me cook dinner, so I decided to get us out some aprons.  My apron was made by my mother around 1989. I have fond memories of my mom making whole wheat bread from freshly ground wheat while wearing the lovely brown and yellow Treasure, so I know it is pretty old. Peter's apron has a cool story too, I'm sure, but I don't know it yet. He preferred to wear it as a cape.

Here we are on our way to church. I can't believe how grown up he looks.

Here I am helping him play in the waterfall/stream at Stewart Falls.
He thought the icy water was really fun for about 20 seconds.

During the 14 months Peter has been on this planet, I have taken hundreds of pictures of him.  I have noticed though that there is a problem: I'm never in any of the pictures. I was amazed today when I uploaded the picturess off my camera and I actually found a couple that Peter and I are both in.  So, I decided to make a special post for the three pictures of Mother and Son.

I imagine my posterity someday finding my picture albums and making assumptions. "Who is this child's mother? We haven't seen her in any pictures with him. She must have not spent much time with him." And really, it's kind of crazy that we don't have more pictures together since we are with each other all day every day.  I'll have to make Sean carry the camera from now on so people know that I'm the mommy.

  1. I love the pics of mom and son! He really is growing up so fast. And I totally understand your frustration at having very few pictures of yourself with your child--our pictures are mostly the same way. Good for you for making Sean carry the camera sometimes. :)

  2. I cant believe how much he has grown since last time I saw you guys. I know what you mean about having a ton of pictures of your baby but none with you in it. Im with Peyton 24/7 but with the pictures we have, you wouldnt know it.

  3. I was thinking about this very thing the other day. I'm always so worried about avoiding being in shot of the camera lense, but I should be more worried about preserving memories and life how it really is. Very cute pictures. :)

  4. Hey, Catherine, I made Peter's apron out of some of my mother's fabric scraps during the summer of 1980, right before I met Bret. So it's into its fourth generation now...
